  • Health

Hi there, I'm Dr. Brawley. As a licensed professional counselor, I may be able to help you find the balance you need in your life. And email therapy is an ideal option for you if you are dealing with issues that you can't overcome alone -- while not even having to leave your home!

Email therapy is not the same experience as face-to-face therapy; however, it is a unique experience that is helpful for those who prefer the convenience and comfort of being in their homes.

Although it is a newer form of counseling, email therapy can be effective under the right circumstances. Please read the following benefits and considerations to determine if it is a good fit for you.

benefits

There are many advantages of email therapy.

You can:

  • Engage in therapy if you are homebound, live in a remote area, traveling or working
  • Have access to a therapist even if you are living in a foreign country or are in the military
  • Keep the same therapist if you relocate frequently
  • Send emails at any time of the day or night
  • Be at ease without worrying about missed, rescheduled or cancelled appointments
  • Read the therapist's responses as often as is helpful to you
  • Take as much time as needed to compose your emails
  • Choose a single consultation or ongoing therapy
  • Feel less intimidated with no stigma attached

Dr. Brawley's email therapy packages are HIPPA compliant. Encrypted email via Hushmail is used to assure your privacy and security.

considerations

There are certain considerations before deciding if email therapy is right for you.

You must not be:

  • Suicidal or a threat to others
  • Requiring intense treatment for a chronic mental illness
  • Under 18 years of age
  • Uncomfortable using a computer

If you are having suicidal thoughts, please call 911 or go to your local emergency room.
