Therapeutic writing is a form of expressive therapy and is done by oneself with the direction of a professional counselor. It takes the act of writing and processes words as therapy, gradually easing the emotions of anxiety, sadness, anger, stress and other feelings associated with a difficult or traumatic experience.

How can therapeutic writing benefit you?

  • It’s a convenient way to interact virtually; you can engage in therapeutic writing if you are homebound, live in a remote area, traveling or working
  • You can take as much time as needed to write down your thoughts
